Great start to the basketball season & our first ever league game. St Andrews team was tough: scores were even at the end of the 2nd quarter, they pulled away in the 3rd, we made a comeback in the 4th but couldn't quite catch them, losing 38-28. Well done all! http://t.co/0uEdzMb3Jp

Tackling a famous Dürrenmatt novel was of course ´gar kein problem´ for hard-working A-Level German students. Their in-depth analysis display is ‘ganz wunderbar’ taking pride of place in our busy MFL department ürrenmatt http://t.co/2XNTxE2YBr

All at Waldegrave are commemorating the remarkable life and mourning the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II today. We are taking time to reflect on her resilience and sense of duty, in special assemblies, and thinking of her family in their grief. Rest in Peace Ma’am. http://t.co/uD5LfhuOTl

DofE Award at Waldegrave School

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is available to all students who would like to take on the challenge.

The Bronze programme starts in September of  Y9. Enrolment for Silver Award is in Year 10, and we offer the Gold to students working in partnership with Richmond D of E Award.  Over 260 students participate in the award each year at Waldegrave.

Students take 6 months to a year to complete each stage of the award.  We aim to encourage service to the community through volunteering, development of practical skills, participation in physical activity, and a spirit of adventure in their expedition. All sections of the award require a regular commitment outside of normal lesson time for about one hour per week and for a number of months. There are no absolute standards of ability in each activity as it is all about development of the individual.

Recent expeditions have taken Y10 on their Bronze to the Ashdown Forest and the Y11 Silver awards to the Brecon Beacons. Y12 and Y13 students can travel nationally and internationally though our partnerships with our local provider Richmond DofE.

To find out more about the award go to: http://www.dofe.org/  or email: info@waldegravesch.org.
